Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, during a visit to Ghazipur, paid tribute to 1965 war hero Abdul Hamid, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra. Speaking at the event, Bhagwat highlighted India's long standing unity despite its diversity, stating that this unity is evident whenever the nation faces external threats from countries like Pakistan or China.
At the event held in Hamid’s native village of Dhamupur on Monday, Bhagwat released two books: "Mere Papa Param Vir" by Ramachandran Srinivasan and "Bharat ka Musalman" by Captain (retired) Maqsood Ghazipuri. He remarked on the cohesiveness of Indian society, where people of different religions, castes, communities, and languages come together in the name of the nation, particularly during times of war.
Prior to his speech, Bhagwat paid homage to the statues of Abdul Hamid and his wife, Rasoolan Bibi.
